Cookie Policy
Effective: October 16, 2026
1. Cookies, in one paragraph
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site remember something about you between page loads — in our case, mainly whether you are signed in. We also use your browser's local storage to remember a display preference; it works in a similar way and is covered here too.
2. What we use
- Sign-in session (necessary) — set when you log in, so you stay logged in as you move between pages. Without it you cannot sign in or use your account. It is removed when you log out or when the session expires.
- Display preference (local storage, not a cookie) — remembers whether you chose the light or dark appearance. It stays in your browser until you clear it.
- Usage analytics (optional) — when enabled, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set their own cookies to give us aggregate statistics: how many people visit, which pages they read, and how they move through the site. We use this to decide what to improve.
We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not sell data collected through them.
3. Third-party cookies
The analytics cookies above are set by Google and Microsoft, not by us. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies, which we recommend reading if you want the detail.
4. How to control them
Every major browser lets you see, block or delete cookies — look for "Privacy" or "Cookies" in your browser settings. You can also browse in a private window, which discards them when you close it.
One thing to know: blocking the sign-in session cookie will stop you from logging in or subscribing. Clearing local storage simply resets the site to its default light appearance.
5. Changes and contact
If we add or remove a cookie we will update this page and the date above. Questions about cookies: hello@provenai.dev.
