Start from demand, not from ideas

Pick the gap, not the giant
Within a hot category, the winners cluster: same audience, same channel, same pricing. The proven entry is a focused alternative — same core job, one sharpened angle (a language, a profession, a workflow, a price point). Study the leader’s keywords: its top non-brand search terms are literally the demand map for your landing pages.
Validate with a week, not a quarter
Ship a landing page that makes the promise, buy a little traffic or post where the audience lives, and measure sign-ups against the winners’ numbers in this index. If you cannot beat a 40% bounce rate and 1+ minute duration in week one, sharpen the promise before writing the product.
